Important Announcement Regarding the Aylmer Performing Arts Council (APAC) 2020-2021 Series

Aylmer Performing Arts Council (APAC) has been closely following the ongoing developments of the COVID-19 virus. The restrictions in place to ensure everyone’s safety has been at the forefront of our minds. After seeking input from artists, agents, and municipal officials and keeping up to date with the ever-evolving COVID 19 protocols, we have sadly concluded that it is necessary to cancel our entire 2020-2021 series.

APAC believes that there is just too much uncertainty to move forward at this time. As there doesn’t seem to be any indication that the current physical distancing or allowable indoor capacity will change in the foreseeable future, we just can’t keep our performers and patrons wondering if the shows will be able to proceed. The indoor capacity in any venue is currently limited to 50 people. Since we have sold over 130 season tickets, we simply couldn’t be in the position to decide who gets to attend and who doesn’t. And, if we can only sell 50 tickets for a show, we wouldn’t be able to cover our fixed costs or the cost of the performers. Please know that we also want to respect the various comfort levels people have about attending large gatherings. These are difficult times and the safety of our patrons and performers has been the guiding force behind our decision.

Anyone who has purchased tickets online or purchased tickets from a committee member will receive a full refund for their tickets. We are not offering any credits for next season as we need to start with a clean slate. Those who bought tickets online can claim their refund online whereas those who paid by other means, will receive a cheque.

Like us, we know how much you were looking forward to our new season! What is amazing is that we have contacted these performers and are in negotiations with them to ALL be a part of the 2021-2022 series. We will be sure to keep you up to date on these exciting developments.

Some more good news is that The Steven Page Trio has not cancelled their 2021 tour yet! In the event the Steven Page show proceeds in March and the “COVID-19 situation” allows us to present the show without unreasonable restrictions, this will be offered as a “one-off” show. Persons who bought tickets online or from a committee member and persons who committed to buying these tickets prior to this correspondence will be offered the first opportunity to buy tickets before the general public.

And we haven’t forgotten about that one outstanding show from our 2019-2020 season. We kept in close communication with Carl Dixon and he still very much wants to play in Aylmer! At the first safe opportunity, we will reach out to you via email and social media with a date and time. Tickets from 2019-2020 will still be accepted (whether you still have them or not…we know our patrons!) Additional tickets will be available for that show too.

Your understanding, your continued patronage and your love of live music #undertheunionjack is very much appreciated. Thank you for your patience and understanding in these uncertain times!
